Euroweb Betrug

Gerade war bei uns ein netter Mann der uns als Referenzkunden für Euroweb werben wollte. Man bekommt eine professionelle Webseite erstellt mit Suchmaschinen-Optimierung und sogar ein Firmenvideo. Die gezeigten Webseiten waren absolute Spizenklasse und der Verkäufter wirkte überzeugend.
Nachdem die Kosten die normal anfallen würden weggestrichen waren blieben noch happige 185€ pro Monat für Hosting und Service übrig. Bei 48 Monaten Laufzeit also 8880€ auf vier Jahre. Trotz des Preises immer noch ein interessantes Angebot, wenn man dafür eine Top Webseite mit Video bekommt. Nach etwas Überlegung entschieden wir uns trotzdem dagegen. Nicht zuletzt, weil er jetzt gleich eine Entscheidung wollte und anschließend das Angebot nicht mehr bestehen würde.

Wie richtig diese Entscheidung gewesen ist fand sich schnell per Google raus, welches Betrug und Abzocke als Ergänzungen für Euroweb vorschlägt. Da wurde auch klar warum der nette Herr alle Unterlagen wieder eingepackt hatte und nicht mal eine Visittenkarte dagelassen hat.

Darum folgt dem alten Grundsatz: Nie etwas unter Druck unterschreiben!

Am Besten mal The Real Hustle gucken. Leider sind nicht mehr so viele Folgen bei YouTube.

PHP's Scalability

I found this nice article about PHP's Scalability and Performance of Digg.com with a comment from last.fm. There is also a presentation of flickr and a performace compare of InnoDB and MyISAM.

Automaticly select right Language for Firefox spell check

I am writing a lot in German and English so I have to change the spell checking language of Firefox constantly. I found a experimental plugin that is which tries to do this based on the webpage your one but so for it doesn't do anything for me.
There are several bugs opened for this issue with different ideas how to solve the problem.

• Based on the text you typed in the field so far
• Based on the HTML page lang tag

Oh, there is another plugin. It tries to detect the the language automaticly but you also can save your settings per page. Auto detect does not look good so far but it works for me.

Firefox Add, Edit and Delete Cookies

If you open the cookies view in firefox you can't click on the webpage anymore. Help provides a plugin that is also able to add and edit cookies as you like.
I am curious what I might be able to do with this...

Eclipse, Strg+Tab to next Tab

It's so annoying that Ctrl+Tab doesn't work in Eclipse by default but here is how to change it:
Go to Window->Preferences->General->Keys use the search field over the Table an look for "Next Page" and "Previous Page".

Alternative you can use "Next editor" and "Previous editor" to jump in the order the editors were opened the last time.

Show Full Sender Email-Address in Thunderbird

Thunderbird only shows the name or the prefix of an email address. I think this is a shame but anyway I found a tool how fixes this issue: Show Address.
Unfortunately you can't install it with the current Thunderbird version. But here is a trick to get it running anyway:

• Download show_address-0.0.4-tb.xpi
• Rename show_address-0.0.4-tb.xpi to show_address-0.0.4-tb.zip and unpack it
• Change in install.rdf em:maxVersion="2.0" to em:maxVersion="2.9"
• Install it

To complicated?
I just got a mail from the developer of the add-on. You can get a new version easy on his homepage. It produces some nasty errors in the JavaScript log, so it's not on the mozilla page, but it works just fine.

You can fix the JavaScript errors if you open content/showaddress.js and remove or comment out line 287:
this.wrapped_view.getRowProperties( index , properties );
It's useless anyway...

Battle.net Beta Test Download für System Check

Wenn man bei Battle.net einen Account hat und ein Spiel geadded hat sollte man eigentlich einen System Checker runterladen können um dann am Beta Test teilnehmen zu können. Doch irgendwie wurde nun der Link dafür bei mir nicht mehr angezeigt, aber zum Glück konnte ich ihn noch aus der History fischen. Vielleicht hilft er auch noch anderen:

Stay on top mit ac'tivAid

Ac'tivAid ist eine Toolsammlung von Heise mit haufenweise praktischer Funktionen die in Windows fehlen.
Was es da im Einzelnen gibt steht auf der Seite, herausheben möchte ich nur die "stay on top" Funktion, weil sie nicht so leicht zu finden ist.

Im Plugin "TransparentWindow" das bei mir nicht wirklich toll funktioniert gibt es einen Hotkey Strg+Windows+Alt + linke Maustaste mit dem kann man das Fenster auf das man klickt im Vordergrund behalten.
